Social Services Announces FINAL Sign-Up for Christmas Program

East Hartford, CT—The East Hartford Social Services Division has initiated the application process for Christmas assistance program. However, in response to COVID-19, the application process for Christmas Food Baskets and holiday gifts for children will be done remotely.

Low income East Hartford families with minor children requesting assistance with Christmas Food Baskets & holiday gift cards for their children (between the ages of 0-10 only) should download and fill out application form here. Once downloaded, applications should be completed in entirety, signed & returned to the department with all necessary paperwork by December 7, 2020.  Applications may also be obtained by contacting the department @ 860-291-7248 and requesting to have one mailed. Applications and information may be returned via email/fax/scan/USPS or green drop box in Town Hall Parking lot. Once the completed application is returned to the department, a staff member will contact you to confirm accuracy.

NOTE: if you previously submitted an application for the Combined Thanksgiving & Christmas Programs during October or November, you are all set and do not need to submit an additional application.

In addition to the signed application, COPIES of the following documents are requested:

  • Photo ID and proof of current address for applicant & proof of current address for all household members age 18 and older.  Current address verifications: valid lease, current bill, mail or rent receipt dated within the past 4 weeks.
  • Proof of current household monthly gross income.
  • Current budget sheet from DSS for cash assistance only.
  • Dates of birth for all household members.
  • Long form birth certificates for all household members under the age of 18.
  • Proof of guardianship/custody, if applicable.

* Please Note: holiday gift cards are only available to children up to age 10, by December 24, 2020.

Holiday meals will be available for singles or households with no minor children.  If you wish to sign-up for these meals, please contact Social Services directly @ 860-291-7248 to find out more and register.  The registration deadline for Christmas is December 11, 2020.

THIS PROGRAM IS FOR EAST HARTFORD RESIDENTS ONLY

Please Note: Completing an application does not guarantee that your request will be fulfilled, as these programs are based on the amount of donations/funding available. Due to limited resources, households already selected to receive these services from another agency/organization will not be eligible to receive duplicate services from the Town of East Hartford.
