(April 8, 2020) East Hartford, CT— Effective immediately, Simple Recycling, Inc. has suspended collection of textiles and home goods through their curbside pink bag program due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Residents are asked not to place their pink bags at the curb until further notice.

“Although the pink bag recycling program has been suspended, we would like to ensure our residents can still benefit from this recycling service by bringing their textiles to the transfer station free of charge,” said Mayor Marcia Leclerc.

Residents may drop off their textiles at the Transfer Station, located at 61 Ecology Drive. Please know, a bulky waste permit is not required to recycle textiles at the transfer station.

The Town of East Hartford has partnered with Simple Recycling in 2018 to offer our residents a convenient and innovative way to recycle clothing and textiles curbside in a free pink bag.

Acceptable items that can be put into the pink bags and brought to the transfer station include men and women and children’s clothing, coats and jackets, jewelry, shoes, purses, hats, toys, blankets, drapes and curtains, pillows, sleeping bags, small tools, silverware, dishes, pots and pans and backpacks.
