Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program Vouchers Available to Eligible East Hartford Residents

East Hartford, CT - The Town of East Hartford is pleased to advise eligible residents senior farmers’ market nutrition program (SFMNP) vouchers can be obtained from the Department of Health & Social Services. The SFMNP is a supplemental food program where eligible participants receive one coupon booklet with vouchers that can be redeemed at FMNP authorized locations throughout Connecticut for fruits, vegetables, fresh cut herbs, and honey.  The East Hartford farmers’ market occurs every Friday morning from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Raymond Library lawn and accepts SFMNP vouchers.

Eligibility Guidelines

In order to qualify for SFMNP, individuals must:

  • Be 60 years of age or older OR is a disabled individual under the age of 60 living in housing facilities occupied primarily by older individuals where congregate nutrition services are provided.
  • Have a maximum household income of not more than 185 percent of the annual poverty income guidelines. The most recent income limits available shall be used at the time of distribution to determine eligibility.
  • Have gone through proper means testing to support income eligibility.  Examples include Renters’ Rebate, Operation Fuel, and tax relief programs.

Eligible Town residents can contact Social Services at (860) 291-7248 to set up an appointment in-person or over the phone to confirm eligibility and complete the market voucher application.  Please note interested individuals are recommended to apply for market vouchers as early as possible due to the limited number provided to Social Services.
