Mayor Marcia Leclerc Submits Strong Casino Proposal to MMCT Venture

(November 6, 2015) East Hartford, CT –At approximately 11:30 a.m. on Friday, November 6, Mayor Marcia A. Leclerc and the Town of East Hartford, in conjunction with developer Anthony J. Ravosa and Silver Lane Partners, LLC, submitted their response to the casino RFP to H. Pearce Commercial in North Haven, as well as uploaded their digital version to the RFP Dropbox folder at 6 p.m. on Thursday.

With strong support from Mayor Leclerc and the East Hartford Town Council, East Hartford’s proposal represents a casino option that offers substantial municipal backing.

“The RFP submitted today represents a fully compliant package of municipal support, quick time to market, extremely high visibility from the highway and easy access from the Greater Hartford region,” Mayor Leclerc said. “I think it is clear that our proposal stands out as the most viable and complete option being submitted to MMCT Venture.”

The site proposed in East Hartford incorporates approximately 25 acres of land at the location of the long closed Showcase Cinema on 936 Silver Lane. In the Town of East Hartford’s proposal, the location submitted in the RFP features direct visibility from I-84, with over 130,000 cars per day passing by the site and is on the crossroads of I-84, I-91, I-384, I-291, Route 2, Route 15 and Route 5.

The proposal also presents a full range of town services, including a full-time fire department, which offers paramedic-level service and a 125 member police department, which features an attractive service package to handle the increase in traffic and casino patrons. In addition, East Hartford submitted a fully compliant proposal which checks off all of MMCT Venture, LLC’s criteria, most notably having a welcoming and active community which offers a genuine stake in a well-managed and well-sited facility, as well as the criteria to feature a partner which “Demonstrates an ability and willingness to work with landowners, developers, labor and other stakeholders to achieve our common goal of completing a project quickly and efficiently.”
