Mayor Marcia Leclerc Honors Standout East Hartford Resident

(November 18, 2015) East Hartford, CT – On the heels of signing a National Letter of Intent with the Syracuse Women’s Basketball team for a full-scholarship, resident Desiree Elmore, daughter of Leon and Tonish Elmore, was congratulated and recognized by Mayor Marcia A. Leclerc in her office Wednesday afternoon.

Elmore, who is currently a senior at Capital Prep Magnet School in Hartford, is a standout guard for their basketball team, averaging 24 points, 15 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 blocks per game.  Mayor Marcia Leclerc was impressed by Elmore and reiterated her importance to the community of East Hartford.

“Desiree is a model resident and a standout athlete,” Mayor Leclerc said. “Signing with one of the top basketball programs in the country is impressive and her hard work and dedication are qualities that will definitely propel her to success on the court and in the classroom.”

Before attending Capitol Prep, Elmore attended Silva’s Youth of Today, Anna Norris Elementary School and St. Christopher School, all in East Hartford. She is currently ranked the 38th best high school senior in the Class of 2016 by Blue Star Basketball and 50th in the country by ESPN HoopGurlz.
