Mayor Leclerc Imposes Mandatory Limitations on Social and Recreation Gathering of More Than 5 Persons

covid 19 restriction on gathering

March 20, 2020 – East Hartford, CT – Mayor Marcia Leclerc announces that the Town of East Hartford has instituted mandatory limitations on social and recreational gatherings of more than five people in the town of East Hartford. The social and recreational activities include, but are not limited to: community, civic, and sporting events; plays or live performances; as well as religious, spiritual, or worship gatherings including funerals and visitation hours.  Earlier this week, the Centers for Disease Control issued guidance that all events of ten or more people should be cancelled.  The emergency order runs through April 30, 2020, but may be modified, extended, or terminated at any time by the Mayor.

“The mandatory limitations on social and recreational gatherings of more than ten people in our community are being taken as East Hartford confirms its first positive case of the COVID-19. These measures are consistent with guidance from the CDC to protect the people of our community.  These limitations will minimize social contact and slow the spread of the COVID-19 disease.  Steps taken now can potentially shorten the impact, reduce the number of people impacted and return our community to normality, said Mayor Marcia Leclerc.”
