Library to Host Author and Former EHPD Officer Todd Lentocha on July 20

(June 30, 2015) East Hartford, CT – Author and former East Hartford Police Officer, Todd Lentocha will give an inspirational talk and do a book signing on Monday, July 20, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium of the East Hartford Community Cultural Center. His new book, Officer Down, Man Up: Putting a Life Back Together Again, provides accounts about the month Lentocha spent in a coma, when his wife didn’t leave the hospital for fear of her husband dying alone. In honest and vivid detail, Lentocha recounts his rehabilitation at the Hospital for Special Care in New Britain, his range of feelings about disability, and the poignant tribulations his family has faced.

Sponsored by the Friends of the East Hartford Public Library, the event is free and a portion of the book’s proceeds will benefit the Friends organization and the library.

Lentocha said, “When I was injured, the people of East Hartford came out in support big-time. Restaurants donated meals for my close ones as they kept vigil in Hartford Hospital; my colleagues in the police department, fire department and EMT crews helped save me; and total strangers sent cards and prayers. So this is one small way I can give back to the town.”

The East Hartford Community Cultural Center is located at 50 Chapman Place in East Hartford. Books will be available for sale at the event. For more information call the library at 860-290-4338.
