Ice Cream with a Cop

Ice Cream with a Cop

(June 12, 2018) East Hartford, CT – Between “Coffee With a Cop” and “Sandwich With A Cop,” residents got to spend some time with East Hartford police officers, ask them questions and get to know them better. Now, that school is out and warm weather is here – we thought it would be a perfect time for “Ice Cream With a Cop.”

The East Hartford Police Department is happy to participate in the expansion of community outreach programs, with the first of its kind in the area.  All community members are invited to join East Hartford Police Officers—this time over an ice cream cone—to discuss issues and learn more about each other. There is no agenda. There are no speeches.  Residents are free to talk about their neighborhood, ask questions, share concerns, or stop by just to chat.

“We’re very excited about this event,” said Police Chief Scott Sansom. “Having opportunities like this to get together with the community strengthens communication and partnerships.”

Sansom said positive relationships build trust and effective policing, which translates into safer communities.

“What better way to spend some time with an officer and chat – than over an ice cream cone?  We encourage everyone to stop by, all are welcome.”

The East Hartford Police Department’s “Ice Cream With A Cop” takes place from 12:00PM to 2:00PM on Thursday, June 21st at Dairy Queen, 435 Main Street, East Hartford, Connecticut.
