Grand Finale for Summer Reading Program on 8/9/14

Featuring Family Competitions and Building a Rube Goldberg Machine

July 25, 2014 - East Hartford, CT - The East Hartford Public Library is pleased to announce a special finale to its summer reading program, featuring the family entertainer Jungle Jim and a Rube Goldberg Family Competition. Sponsored through generous funding from United Technologies Research Center, the festivities will happen Saturday, August 9th from 2:00pm-5:00pm at Raymond Library, East Hartford Community Cultural Center Gymnasium, 50 Chapman Place, East Hartford, CT

2:00 pm: Performance by Jungle Jim http://www.junglejimboston.com/ Jungle Jim has been entertaining families and children in New England for over a decade. His show called How to Catch a Mouse: Simple Machines at Work culminates in building a Rube Goldberg Mousetrap entirely made from balloons and volunteers from the audience! You won't want to miss this amazing and entertaining show!

3:00 pm: Rube Goldberg Family Competition Sign up with your family and friends to create a Rube Goldberg Machine of your very own! What's a Rube Goldberg machine? Have you ever played the game "mousetrap"? That's a type of Rube Goldberg! We'll test what your family creates at the end of the program and award prizes for the best machines. Supplies will be provided to each team.
