East Hartford Fire Department Promotes 28 Firefighters

The East Hartford Fire Department recognized 28 firefighters who have been recently promoted, graduated from the Fire Academy, or ended their probationary period at a ceremony at the East Hartford Community Cultural Center on Thursday evening. The promotions range from a new Deputy Fire Chief, Fire Marshal and Chief Medical Officer, to new Firefighter Paramedics joining the department.

“These promotions are a recognition of the great talent we have at our fire department,” said Mayor Marcia A. Leclerc. “I have every confidence that our new leaders will continue to provide a high level of service to the public and grow the capabilities and reputation of the department. I am extremely grateful to Chief Oates for his leadership in making the EHFD the great organization it is today.”

“Our department and community are fortunate to have talented and dedicated firefighters and fire officers that strive every day to provide high quality service to the resident and visitors of East Hartford,” said Chief John Oates. “Today’s promotions are another step forward in our efforts to ensure the East Hartford Fire Department remains prepared and ready for the challenges of delivering fire, rescue and EMS services in 2017.  The support of the Mayor and Town Council, coupled with solid leadership at all levels makes a difference as we strive to ensure the East Hartford Fire Department remains the preeminent fire department in the Capital Region.”
