East Hartford Approves Ordinance to Welcome Food Trucks to the Community
East Hartford, CT— The Town of East Hartford is excited to announce changes to local ordinances and regulations that streamline the application process for food truck owners and provides the opportunity for greater access to food trucks for local businesses and residents. Effective June 21, 2022, food trucks licensed by the East Hartford Department of Health will be allowed to operate on designated streets located within the town’s business districts, allowing organizers to schedule food trucks during events held at town parks and buildings, and businesses to contract with food trucks for events conducted on their property.
“We recognize our residents interest to expand food truck options offered in town, and I thank the Council for approving ordinance changes that supports our vision to make East Hartford a destination town while also supporting our small business operators,” said Mayor Michael P. Walsh.
Food truck operators must adhere to all food code requirements for itinerant food vendor establishments, and obtain a food service license from the East Hartford Department of Health. Once licensed, food trucks will be able to conduct business on designated streets approved by the Town of East Hartford Sunday through Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Event organizers can work with the Health Department to obtain a list of licensed food trucks to schedule during organized events on Town properties, and on private property for events scheduled by businesses.
