Annual Mayor’s Cleanup Day to be Held Saturday, September 16

250 Volunteers to Beautify East Hartford
Mayor's Clean Up Day - Saturday, September 16 - 9AM-12Pm - Town Green

The annual Mayor’s Cleanup Day will take place Saturday, September 16, 2017, from 9AM-12PM. The event is an expansion of Mayor Leclerc’s constant efforts to beautify East Hartford. Over two hundred and fifty volunteers from various businesses and community groups are registered to participate, completing a “bridge-to-bridge” clean-up of Main Street and the gateways of East Hartford.

“While our employees work throughout the year to keep East Hartford maintained and orderly, we encourage our residents to join together for the benefit of our community,” Mayor Leclerc said. “This town has a proud history of working together towards a common goal and this day will allow all community stakeholders to rally together towards revitalizing and beautifying our town.”

Projects to be undertaken include litter pickup and cleaning waste receptacles on Main Street, litter cleanup on the Hockanum River Trail, gardening, mum planting, and mulching the Main Street / East Hartford Gateway Pocket Park, and weeding on Tolland Street and Burnside Avenue. In addition, volunteers will get a head start on MDC’s 2018 plan to paint all 1148 fire hydrants in town by refurbish those on Main Street.

A celebratory lunch will be provided for all registered volunteers at noon. Community service hours can be completed during this time and certificates of participation will be provided upon request. For more information, or to register, visit: https://www.easthartfordct.gov/mayorscleanup
