Mayor Marcia A. Leclerc is pleased to announce that the annual Mayor’s Cleanup Day will take place Saturday, September 16, 2017, from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. The one day event is an expansion of Mayor Leclerc’s town wide beautification efforts. The Mayor is looking for volunteers from local youth groups, churches, organizations, civic clubs, businesses and individuals to join her in the effort.

Mayor’s Cleanup Day, an annual tradition, consists of community volunteers completing a “bridge-to-bridge” clean-up of Main Street and the gateways of East Hartford, weeding, cleaning and removing debris all along Main Street from Main and Pitkin up through Main and Burnside.  “While our employees work throughout the year to keep East Hartford maintained and orderly, we encourage our residents to join together for the benefit of our community,” Mayor Leclerc said. “This town has a proud history of working together towards a common goal and this day will allow all community stakeholders to rally together towards revitalizing and beautifying our town.”

Online registration is now closed. Local organizations, businesses and individuals interested in volunteering are asked to contact the Mayor’s Office at 860-291-7200, or email mlarson@easthartfordct.gov by 4pm today (9/15) with any registration questions.

A celebratory lunch will be provided for all registered volunteers at noon. Community service hours can be completed during this time and certificates of participation will be provided upon request.
