2015 Holiday Fest Records High Participation

(December 9, 2015) East Hartford, CT – Mayor Marcia A. Leclerc proudly announced today that The 2015 East Hartford Holiday Fest,  presented by the Beautification Commission, in conjunction with the town and local organizations, which featured four days’ worth of events, food and family fun ended on Monday, December 7 with high attendance rates for many of the featured events throughout town.

Mayor Leclerc, who attended several Holiday Fest events throughout the week, said today that she was proud of the residents who came out and showed their holiday spirit, as well as  the exceptional work performed by everyone involved.

“This time of year is about making memories and magical moments for our children, as well as celebrating the richness of our community and giving, so that every child and every family can experience the joy of this holiday season,” Mayor Leclerc said.

The three events with the most attendance during the week were the Underwater Photo Session with Santa at the indoor pool, with 150 people attending, the Opening night Tree Lighting and Sing-a-Long on the Town Green, with over 200 people and Santa’s Visit at the East Hartford Community Cultural Center, with 450 people attending.

The Santa’s Visit program, which is one of the oldest traditions of Holiday Fest, saw its 30th year of participation in the programming. In its inaugural year, in the mid-1980s, the event drew 300 participants and featured a giveaway of the tree from Santa’s workshop and polaroids of the children and Santa, which were given away as keepsakes to participants.
