Strong Winds Alert

East Hartford, CT -- The National Weather Service has issued wind advisories for the entire state for this afternoon and this evening. The winds are expected to increase over the next few hours. The strongest winds (with gusts of 40 – 55 MPH) are expected between 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM as a fast moving cool front moves across the state. 

With the ongoing dry conditions and leaves still on most trees a minor to moderate amount of tree damage and power outages may occur. The amount of impact will depend on whether the strongest winds reach down to ground level especially in any scattered thunderstorms that move across the state later this afternoon and early this evening.
