Calling All Youth Interested in Digital Media and Filmmaking!

Create Vaping Public Service Announcements (PSA)

East Hartford, CT - The East Hartford Youth Advisory Board, which also serves as the Local Prevention Council (LPC), is a community-based coalition with the goal of building local capacity to plan and implement substance use/misuse prevention strategies to reduce problem behaviors and associated negative outcomes for all ages, but particularly the East Hartford youth.

As part of these efforts, the LPC, in collaboration with the Youth and Social Services Department is running a Vaping Prevention PSA Workshop.  This workshop is designed for youth 12 to 18 years of age.

This dynamic and engaging five-session workshop aims to educate and empower teens to create impactful public service announcements (PSAs) addressing
the issue of vaping. This workshop is designed to not only educate teens on the dangers of vaping but also empower them to actively contribute to the fight against this prevalent issue through creative storytelling. The combination of education, hands-on filming, and editing will equip the participants with the skills and knowledge needed to create compelling PSAs that resonate with their peers.

The PSAs created will be shared with the East Hartford Community in a variety of ways including social media and at community events.

The workshop will run on Saturdays (April 20, April 27, May 4, May 11, May 18) from 10:15am to 1:15pm in the Makerspace of Raymond Library, 840 Main Street, East Hartford.
