Continued Sign-Ups for the 2022 Coats for Kids Program

East Hartford residents with children between the ages of 1-16 still have an opportunity to apply for this year’s Coats for Kids Program.  This program is sponsored by the East Hartford Rotary Club and provides qualified households with the opportunity to select a new winter coat for their child/ren. The deadline to submit an application and necessary documents is October 6, 2022. The application can be found on the Social Services program website @ www.easthartfordct.gov/social-services/pages/back-to-school-programs . 

The application can be downloaded, filled out, signed, and returned to the department with all necessary paperwork by October 6, 2022.  Applications and information may be returned via email to socialservices@easthartfordct.gov; faxed to 860-291-7304; mailed to the Social Services Department at 740 Main Stree4, East Hartford, CT 06108; or placed in green drop box in the Town Hall Parking lot. Individuals may also contact the department at 860-291-7248 to request assistance with completing the application or to request an application be mailed to you. Once the completed application is returned to the department, a staff member will contact you via phone to confirm eligibility.

In addition to the signed application, COPIES of the following documents are requested:

  • Photo ID and proof of current address for applicant and children.  Examples of current address verifications: valid lease, current bill, mail or rent receipt dated within the past 4 weeks.
  • Proof of current household monthly gross income.
  • Current budget sheet from DSS for cash assistance only.
  • Documentation of children's dates of birth.
  • Documentation the adult applying for the program is the parent/legal guardian/primary responsible adult for the children. Examples include birth certificate, school enrollment record or application from other East Hartford or State programs.

Please Note: Completing an application does not guarantee that your request will be fulfilled, as the Coats for Kids Program is based on the amount of donations/funding available.
