Zoning
The Department of Inspections and Permits has the responsibility of enforcing the Zoning Regulations of the Town of East Hartford. Expansions of buildings, changes of uses on properties, and proposed new construction must be verified as to compliance with use, bulk, area and other provisions that regulate matters related to health, safety, and welfare and promote appropriate growth and economic development within the town.
We work closely with the Department of Development and Planning. If you are a new business considering moving into East Hartford we encourage you to contact them first.
We provide staff support for the Zoning Board of Appeals which considers applications to variances of the requirements of the Zoning Regulations and appeals to orders and decisions of zoning enforcement staff.
