Town of East Hartford Offers Free COVID-19 Test Kits

East Hartford, CT - The East Hartford Health Department offers FREE COVID-19 antigen test kits to residents. As we prepare for a potential increase in community transmission, it’s important for residents to access testing if you experience symptoms suggestive of COVID-19, or may have recently been exposed to a person with COVID-19.

Residents can pick-up test kits from the Health Department located at the Community Cultural Center, 50 Chapman Place, Room 009, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  Residents with questions about test kit use can speak with a public health nurse by calling 860-291-7324, or visit the COVID-19 testing page

WHEN TO GET TESTED?

  • If you have symptoms, test immediately. If you are only going to take a single test, a PCR test will provide a more reliable negative test result.
  • If you use an antigen test, a positive result is reliable, but a negative test is not always accurate.
  • If your antigen test is negative, take another antigen test after 48 hours or take a PCR test as soon as you can.
