Connecticut State Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped
partnering with East Hartford Public Library

September 8, 2014 – East Hartford, CT –   "The East Hartford Public Library is proud to be helping the Connecticut State Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped with an important outreach effort by displaying and demonstrating the special equipment the state provides for free to qualifying individuals. The State Library lends books and magazines in recorded formats, along with the necessary playback equipment, as well as materials in Braille, for free to any Connecticut adult or child who is unable to read regular print due to a visual or physical disability. Material and equipment will be delivered to the patron’s home address free of charge. Returning material and equipment is free as well.

How do you apply for this wonderful FREE service from the Library for the Blind?

You can request an application directly from the Library for the Blind, you can print it off the State Library website, or you can stop by at the East Hartford Public Library and get one.

Are you curious to learn more about this?

Stop by at the East Hartford Public Library for a short demo on how to use the equipment, fill out an application, and learn more about the Library for the Blind and what they can do for you, your family members, friends, and anyone else you know that has a visual disability and could be enriched by this service.
