Why did I receive a bill for the paramedic?

The Town of East Hartford has invoiced patients for care provided by fire department paramedics since 2006. Until recently, those fees were bundled into the bill you received from the Ambulance Service of Manchester. In 2013, in order to improve our transparency and efficiency, the Town chose to invoice those fees separately. The fee rate and amount is set by the State of Connecticut Department of Public Health. All revenue recovered goes back into the General Fund to offset the costs of the program.
