Pianist Paul Bisaccia Returns May 17

The East Hartford Fine Arts Commission is pleased to present Paul Bisaccia and I Love a Piano in concert on Sunday, May 17, 2015, at 2 o’clock in the afternoon at the First Congregational Church, 837 Main Street (corner of Main Street and Connecticut Boulevard), East Hartford.  Admission is free!

Representing the old-fashioned magic of the piano, this concert will include music by composers whose names are synonymous with the piano such as Gershwin, Paderewski, and the great poet of the piano, Frederic Chopin.   Also included will be some great “piano bar” music, loved by pianists the world over such as: Misty, Over the Rainbow, In the Mood and music from A Chorus Line.  Of course Irving Berlin’s tune I Love a Piano will open the concert with a toe-tapping arrangement by Paul.  A concert with something for everyone!

Paul Bisaccia has performed concerts on four continents.  After growing up in East Hartford, he graduated first in his class from the Hartt School of Music.  He has recorded over 20 CDs.  Paul has also filmed three television specials for PBS, seen by millions. The television shows, recently released on DVD, are devoted to Gershwin, American piano music and Chopin. He was honored as the University of Hartford Hartt School Alumnus of the Year and the Governor proclaimed Paul Bisaccia Day in the State of Connecticut. In New York he performed Rhapsody in Blue in the space where Gershwin first performed his legendary masterpiece. In the 2015 season, Paul was a guest lecturer at Harvard University. His new book, Piano Player, based on his stories, originally published in the Hartford Courant, is available on Amazon. Paul also teaches at Trinity College in Hartford.
