East Hartford, CT— There are a number of free tax preparation services available in Town for those looking for help.

The East Hartford Public Library has collaborated with United Way to offer free tax preparation services to families with household income of up to $64,000. The services are made available through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. VITA volunteers will help you prepare and file your taxes, teach you new ways to save, and provide tips to help stretch your refund.

IRS-certified VITA volunteers from the United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut will be at Raymond Library on Sundays from 1 pm to 4:30 pm, beginning January 28, 2024 through April 7, 2024. Registration is required. Dial 211 to set up an appointment (press 3 then 6). The checklist of required documents will be provided to taxpayers when they register to attend. The Raymond Library is located at 840 Main Street. Please note that no sessions will be offered on March 31 (Easter Sunday).

Free Federal forms and tax information booklets will also be available at the library.
