Showcase Cinemas Site Purchased; Redevelopment Eyed

The Town of East Hartford has completed its purchase of the site of the former Showcase Cinemas on Silver Lane, visible from I-84. This will help to accelerate plans to redevelop the area, potentially with residential or mixed-use development, and it will remove an eyesore for motorists. The Mayor's Silver Lane Advisory Committee has studied potential future uses for the site. The Town plans to demolish the former cinema and will soon advertise a request for qualifications in search of a developer for the site.
