Showcase Cinemas Demolition Underway
The Town of East Hartford purchased the vacant, 25 acre Showcase Cinemas property in March of 2019. The property is located at 936 Silver Lane, adjacent to Charter Oak Plaza, and visible from I-84. On November 4th, demolition crews from Cherry Hill Construction of North Branford began demolishing the former cinema building. The site will be cleared for new development. The Silver Lane Advisory Committee determined the site could become home to up to 260 new apartment and townhome units. The Town is seeking to partner with a developer to advance these plans.
