Goodwin University and the Town of East Hartford have been awarded a $2 million state grant towards the planned construction of a marina on the Connecticut River.  The grant was is part of the Department of Economic and Community Development's Communities Challenge Grant Program.  The overall cost is expected to be $4.5 million, with an additional $1.6 million contributed by Goodwin.  The marina will feature 30 boat slips, some reserved for emergency services.  Governor Ned Lamont joined Mayor Mike Walsh and Goodwin President Mark Scheinberg at the location on April 14, 2022, to celebrate the investment.

The marina is the next step in the transformation of Goodwin's campus, which began with the construction of a gateway building at the corner of Main and Ensign Streets.  It features Rebel Dog Coffee Co. and the flagship branch of American Eagle Financial Credit Union.
