Connecticut Opportunity Zones May Spark Development

State officials are preparing to promote Connecticut's Opportunity Zones and are optimistic that they may spur development in towns including East Hartford. Investors may defer or even eliminate capital gains taxes by investing in properties or businesses in Opportunity Zones, of which there are five in East Hartford, including areas along the Connectict River, Rentschler Field, and at the former Showcase Cinemas site on Silver Lane.
