East Hartford October 1, 2020 Grand List
East Hartford, CT - Mayor Marcia Leclerc and the East Hartford Assessors Office announced the October 1, 2020 grand list was filed with the Town Clerk on February 24, 2021 and recognized a total gross increase of $52,924,892 and an overall percentage increase of 1.64% from last year. The town realized an 8.33% increase in exemptions bringing total exemptions to $455 million. Overall, the town realized a net increase of $18 million or 0.64%. The increase in the grand list will produce approximately $820 thousand in new revenue.
The grand list for Real Estate decreased by $220,049 and is directly attributed to the sale and transfer of taxable property or equipment to non-taxable or exempt status and the settlement of appeals.
Mayor Marcia Leclerc said, “The numbers reflect the challenges we struggle with as a community. The total 2020 exemptions increased an additional $35 million representing an 8.33% increase which represents $455 million in exemption totaling $23 million in unrealized revenue to the town residents which would be used to offset the budget and would reduce the mill rate by 8.5 mills to 41.42.”
