New Veterans' ID Card

A Veteran ID Card (VIC) is now available for any person who meets both of the following requirements:

  • Served on active duty, in the Reserves, or in the National Guard (including the Coast Guard), and
  • Received an honorable or general discharge (under honorable conditions).

The VIC card is a form of photo ID that you can use to get discounts offered to Veterans at many businesses in lieu of carrying around a copy of your DD214 or other personal information to receive discounts.

You can apply for the Veteran ID Card by visiting the va.gov website.

You’ll be required to complete an online application and to upload pdf, jpeg, or png files of:

  • Your DD214, DD256, DD257, or NGB22.
  • A current copy of a valid government-issued ID, such as a driver’s license or passport.
  • A digital color photo of yourself from the shoulders up.  More details are available at the above site.
