East Hartford, CT - The Town of East Hartford is pleased to announce its upcoming Recycling Program rebrand and relaunch titled “In East Hartford Trash is a Treasure”, Your Recycling Makes a Difference! The goal of the program is to boost residential recycling efforts in East Hartford through education.

  • Why Recycle? Recycling is a key driver of the U.S. economy and a good way to save natural resources. It protects the environment by reducing the need for new materials. It creates jobs in the recycling and manufacturing industries. East Hartford’s current recycling rate is estimated at 35% when mattresses, e-waste, textiles, leaves, metal, brush, are included. However, if we measure only recyclables from curbside blue carts, it is 20%. This means we have got some work to do.

We can take immediate action to increase recycling rates by only recycling acceptable items and removing unacceptable items that contaminate and reduce our recycling rate:
