The Metropolitan District Commission will host its fall Hazardous Waste Collection Day in East Hartford at the MDC’s Facility at 65 Pitkin Street on Saturday, October 7, 2017 from 8AM to 1PM. This is a great opportunity for residents to dispose of hazardous wastes that cannot be put in trash receptacles or taken to the East Hartford Transfer Station.

Items accepted include but are not limited to: acids, adhesives, antifreeze, batteries, brake fluid, cleaning solvents, epoxy products, items containing mercury, paint, petroleum products (gasoline, kerosene, fuel oil), and pesticides, fungicides, insecticides and herbicides. You should not bring ammunition (including gunpowder), biohazards, car batteries, or tires, among other items. Click here for a full list of acceptable and unacceptable items.

East Hartford residents are allowed to drop of waste at any of the MDC collection days in our region. For those unable to make the collection day in East Hartford, there will be another in Windsor Locks on October 14. For the full schedule and more information, visit the MDC website.
