The Operations Bureau reports to the Operations Bureau Deputy Chief and consists of the Patrol Division and the Criminal Investigations Division.

The Patrol Division consists of the following:

  • Patrol Platoons
  • Animal Control Section
  • Tactical Response Team
  • Community Outreach Division
  • Traffic Unit/Motorcycles
  • Specialized Units : Honor Guard, Bicycle Unit, K-9 Unit Marine Division Peer Support

The Criminal Investigations Division consists of the following: 

  • General Investigations Section
  • Special (Juvenile) Investigations Section
  • Crash Investigations Unit
  • Evidentiary Services Unit (ESU)
  • Intelligence and Street Crimes Unit
  • School Resource Officers

Members of the Criminal Investigations Division investigate all major crime, cases of human death and sexual assaults cases. CID serves as the liaison to the States Attorney’s Office, the Chief Medical Examiner, the State Police Forensic Laboratory, and Federal Bureau of Investigation. Intelligence and Street Crimes officers address emerging crime issues not normally investigated by patrol officers. They utilize unmarked cars, officers in plainclothes and various pieces of technology designed specifically for their job tasks.
