Join Me for the Mayor’s Cleanup As We Beautify East Hartford

As summer grows old and autumn is on the horizon, I am happy to once again announce the Mayor’s Cleanup Day, an annual tradition that brings the community together to complete a “bridge-to-bridge” clean-up of Main Street between Burnside Avenue and Pitkin Street. While our town employees work throughout the year to keep East Hartford maintained and orderly, we encourage our residents, as well as local businesses and organizations to come together for the benefit of our community.

This town has a proud history of working together towards a common goal and this special clean-up day will allow all community stakeholders to rally together towards revitalizing and beautifying our town. We are pleased at the interest the event has generated from youth groups, churches, and civic clubs who view this as a wonderful team building activity, and who have committed to participating on the 16th.

This year I am urging our business owners on Main Street to join us in this effort, to do their part to help make our community a vibrant and beautiful place to live. If we all do our part, we can make East Hartford an even better place to live, work and play. Even if you cannot make the event on September 16th, I urge you to join with me and with your neighbors in the spirit of community participation to beautify your home and your neighborhood.

If you are interested in joining the Mayors Clean Up Day I ask you to give my office a call at 860-291-7200, email mlarson@easthartfordct.gov, or visit www.easthartfordct.gov/mayorscleanup to register by September 1st. We will meet on September 16th on the Town Green at 9AM, and a celebratory lunch will be provided for all registered volunteers at 12:00PM. Community service hours can be completed during this time and certificates of participation will be provided upon request.

I hope I can count on you to help us foster a prideful community here in East Hartford. We have an illustrious history and a bright future. Let’s work together and make our community the best that it can be.
