East Hartford Public Library Hosts Winter Vacation Programs

Join us at the East Hartford Public Library for a fun lineup of winter vacation programs for children and families.

On Tuesday, December 26, come to the second-floor MakerSpace and make pinback buttons with us! Bring your own pictures or create a design at the library. All ages are welcome, including adults and teens. Adult supervision is required for children under twelve. No registration is required.

For more MakerSpace fun, children ages 6—10 can register for the 3D printer class for kids on Wednesday, December 27 from 10:30—11:30. Children will learn how the 3D printer works, and make printed replicas of their hands. Registration is required, as space is limited. 

Do you agree that unicorns are awesome? Then join us on Wednesday, December 27 from 3:00—4:00 at a fun party. We will read unicorn stories, play games, and make some unicorn crafts. Dress in your most colorful outfit! This program is best suited for children ages 4—12. Please register.

A highlight of our vacation lineup is “From Trash to Tunes,” a program presented by Dennis Waring on Thursday, December 28 from 3:00—4:00. This incredible performance combines science and music, using real and homemade musical instruments from around the world. Dr. Waring will demonstrate how many items considered trash can be used to create musical instruments. Each instrument has its own special story. All are welcome! This program is presented with funding support from the Connecticut Humanities Council. Please register.

On Friday, December 29, bring your family and watch a movie with us! We will be showing Despicable Me 3 from 2:00—4:00. Quiet snacks are allowed, and no registration is required.

To conclude our week of special programs, we’ll have a library scavenger hunt on Saturday, December 30 from 2:00—3:00. Bring your whole family. No registration is required.
