East Hartford Public Library Closed Until Further Notice

library closed

(March 14, 2020) East Hartford, CT—The East Hartford Public Library will be closed to the public indefinitely effective immediately. Please note, due dates for physical items will be extended to July 31, to give our patrons ample time to return their materials to the library once we re-open. Our bookdrop will be locked as of 4 PM on Monday, March 16. Please do not return items to the library during the shutdown.

All programs and meeting room reservations are also canceled until further notice, including our Maker Fair, scheduled for March 21, and our Census Fiesta, scheduled for March 28.

Library staff will be available by phone at 860-290-4330 between 9 – 5, Monday through Friday to answer your questions, issue temporary library cards, update existing library cards, and offer help with accessing our free online resources. Reference staff can be reached during the same hours by e-mail at ehpl-reference at easthartfordct.gov.

Please note, with their library card, our patrons can access e-books, e-audiobooks, and digital magazines, which are available 24/7 for download through our website or through the Libby app. Books and audiobooks are available in both English and Spanish.

We will be adding new materials to our downloadable catalog during the shutdown to better serve our patrons. Don’t see what you’re looking for? Suggest it for purchase through Overdrive or by calling the library.
