Exhibit through February 2020
school exhibit

East Hartford, CT—The East Hartford Public Library and the East Hartford Historical Society are hosting an exhibit titled “East Hartford Schools: Reminiscences and Photos,” from now through the end of February 2020.

On display are artifacts and books related to public school education in East Hartford, from the late 1800s through the 1970s. Additionally, the Historical Society has provided enlarged photos of several graduating classes from East Hartford High from the 1950s.

The Historical Society is asking for help in identifying people in these photos. Anyone who attended East Hartford High during this decade, or who had family or friends who attended, are invited to come and take a look at the pictures and provide this information for the Historical Society on forms that may be submitted anonymously at the library. The Historical Society, with this information, will continue its message to preserve and promote the rich history of East Hartford. It is also hoped that this exhibit will spark conversations and discussions among those who come to see it.

Those interested in joining the Historical Society will also find applications for membership next to the information sheets.

The display is on view in the New Books Room of the East Hartford Public Library.  The display is suitable for all ages. The exhibit is free and open to the public during the library’s operating hours: Monday-Thursday, 9 am – 8 pm; Friday- Saturday, 9 am – 5 pm.
