East Hartford, CT— Join us at the East Hartford Public Library for a fun lineup of winter vacation programs for children and families.

On Tuesday, December 24, drop in any time between 10:00 AM and 4 PM to make a three-dimensional snowflake with paper, glitter, and sequins! For families with children ages five and older, no registration required.

                Movie fans of all ages are invited to join us on Thursday, December 26 at 1:00 PM for a showing of Ugly Dolls, rated PG (1 hour, 30 minutes). Bring your own small snacks to enjoy. No registration required. At 6:00, we're holding Family Makerspace Open Hours. Drop in and learn about your Makerspace! Make a button or take a picture in front of our green screen.

                Drop in any time on Friday, December 27 to make a yeti finger puppet. Have you seen Abominable or Smallfoot? Want a yeti friend of your own? Come and make a yeti finger puppet with us. For all ages. Children 8 and up are invitied to a fun animation program in the Makerspace at 1:00 PM. Animate our mascot! At 2:00, stay for "Snap, Crackle, Pop: Tasty Art" and create tasty snow people or animals with candy and rice krispy treats! All three programs are drop in, no registration required.

                On Saturday, December 28 we’re hosting a Family Game Day, all day long. Looking for a fun and free family activity? Stop in to play a new game! Many games take less than fifteen minutes to finish. For families with children ages four and up. No registration required.

                On Saturday afternoon, families with children ages six and up are invited to come explore coding with LEGO WeDo robotics. Follow along to put LEGOs together, add code, and watch them go! No registration required.

                On Monday, December 30, come between 1:00 – 4:00 PM to make a necklace, bracelet, keychain, and more. Use your imagination to create something with beads. For children ages five and up (older siblings welcome) with a caregiver. No registration required.

                Are the stresses of life getting you down? Carlos Marrero and staff from L.E.O. Outpatient Psychiatric Children’s Clinic will be at the library at 1:00 PM on Monday to help families make a stress relief jar to decrease stress and increase positive stimulation. Best suited for ages 8 – 12. Registration required.

                Join us for CD Scratch Art and Snowman Craft on Tuesday, December 31 from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Drop in to create a work of art from a CD. Scratch a design onto painted CDs, or make a customized snowman with felt and other supplies. Artist’s choice! For families with children ages five and older. No registration required.

                Families with children of all ages are invited to celebrate “Happy Noon Year!” at 11:00 AM on Tuesday. Join us to countdown to 2020! After some fun activities and crafts, we’ll do a countdown and celebrate the “noon” year with a bang! No registration required.

The library will be open regular hours during the winter vacation week, with the exception of December 25, when we will be closed, and December 24 and 31, when we will close early at 5:00 PM.
