Shots Fired at 52 Orchard Street

East Hartford, CT - At approximately 1:15hrs, Officers responded to 52 Orchard Street on a suspicious activity complaint. A citizen reported observing two individuals attempting to break into vehicles. Upon arrival, Officers observed two suspects walking between vehicles in the lot. The Officers ordered the suspects to stop, however they began to run away from the Officers. As they did, one of the suspects turned around, pointed a handgun in the direction of the Officers and fired one round. The Officers were not struck by the gunfire and did not return fire.

A perimeter was established and a K9 track was attempted, however the suspects were not located. Further investigation by Officers found that several vehicles in the Orchard Street area had been broken into.

The suspects were described as two young Black males with thin builds, one wearing a red hat, black hooded sweatshirt and black pants and one wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and black pants.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Bureau have taken over the investigation. We are asking anyone with information regarding this incident to contact the East Hartford Police Department.
