 The Metropolitan District Commission will host its fall Hazardous Waste Collection Day in East Hartford at the MDC’s Facility at 65 Pitkin Street on Saturday, October 6, 2018 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. This is a great opportunity for residents to dispose of hazardous wastes that cannot be put in trash receptacles or taken to the East Hartford Transfer Station.

Items accepted include but are not limited to: acids, adhesives, antifreeze, batteries, brake fluid, cleaning solvents, epoxy products, items containing mercury, paint, petroleum products (gasoline, kerosene, fuel oil), and pesticides, fungicides, insecticides and herbicides.

Some of the items that WON'T BE accepted are ammunition (including gunpowder), biohazards, car batteries, or tires. For a full list of acceptable and unacceptable items, please visit the MDC website.

East Hartford residents are allowed to drop of waste at any of the MDC collection days in our region. For those unable to make the collection day in East Hartford, there will be another in West Hartford on September 22 at Public Works Garage, 17 Brixton Street and in Windsor Locks on October 13 in the Public Works Garage located at 6 Stanton Road.
