Mayor Leclerc's Independence Day Address

The Fourth of July is the perfect time to take a moment and reflect on the birth of our country, the values that it represents and the extensive history that our community shares.

Independence Day is also a time to remember, celebrate and appreciate the freedoms that we have, the history that binds us together and the diverse qualities that make our community so unique. Despite all the differences that we have, we are bound by shared beliefs such as justice, equality and freedom. And while we continue to enjoy and practice these beliefs to enhance the quality of life of our community, we should always remember our ancestors and the invaluable contributions they have made to open up the unlimited opportunities for us that we are able to enjoy today.

With that in mind, we continue to better ourselves while representing and strengthening those values that make us as American a town as it can be.  Our citizens have honorably served and continue to serve the community to leave a long-lasting impact that will benefit our children after us and inspire them to do the same.

In this sense, the Town of East Hartford is comprised of a community that is dedicated to unceasing improvement, development and enhancement. We work hard to maintain our small-town feel while moving toward meeting the needs of the future. This is what makes us a wonderful place to live, work and thrive.
