(March 23, 2018) East Hartford, CT – Mayor Marcia A. Leclerc will be joined by town residents, organ recipients, and activists to kick off National Donate Life Month with a flag raising ceremony Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Town Hall at 11:00 am. April is National Donate Life Month, raising awareness about the lifesaving impact of organ donation. Mayor Leclerc will host the ceremony, where the Donate Life Flag will be raised. Town residents Jane Andrews and Art Parker will share personal accounts of how organ donation saved their lives. The flag will fly at Town Hall through April in order to raise awareness for the critical need for organ donors.

“Organ and tissue donation can save and improve lives in our community and across the nation,” said Mayor Leclerc. “The Town of East Hartford wants to drive that point home with this flag.”

The flag-flying campaign is part of a national effort to bolster organ and tissue donor registration. The Town of East Hartford is one of nearly 120 municipalities, hospitals and organizations in Connecticut taking part in the program.

In order to register as an organ and tissue donor in Connecticut, residents can visit the Department of Motor Vehicles, sign up online at Donate Life New England (http://www.donatelifene.org) or register at the ceremony on April 4.
