Flash Flood Warning Issued Monday, August 23

Turn Around, Don't Drown

East Hartford, CT – A Flash Flood Warning has been issued for our community. Storm Henri has brought heavy rain throughout our area, and steady rainfall will continue throughout the day today. Water levels in the Hockanum River remain high, and continued heavy rainfall may cause the river to overflow, which can result in street and residential flooding.

If you live near or along the Hockanum River and other flood prone areas, be prepared and be alert throughout the afternoon.

If you have important documents or belongings in your basement and lower levels that may be affected by rising waters, it may be in your best interest to move those items to a safer location in your home. Please avoid driving through standing water, as its depth can be deceiving, and do not walk through moving water. When in doubt, TURN AROUND, DON'T DROWN!

Please continue to monitor local weather and news alerts for up-to-date weather information. Sign up for East Hartford Alerts at easthartfordct.gov/east-hartford-alert-network.
