EHPD to Celebrate National Coffee With a Cop

Coffee with a Cop

The spirit of community continues in East Hartford and will be once again celebrated on October 3rd from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Dunkin’ Donuts, 364 Silver Lane in East Hartford, and this time as part of a “National Coffee With a Cop” gathering.

“Coffee With a Cop” events are recognized on a national level – so much so that October 3rd is being recognized by law enforcement agencies nationwide as ‘National Coffee With A Cop Day,’” said East Hartford Police Chief Scott Sansom. “Programs such as this build trust because in a short period of time, citizens and police officers get to know each other and discover mutual goals for the communities they live in and serve. We encourage everyone within this community – if you have a few moments – to please stop by for a chat.”

Two years ago, the East Hartford Police Department began participating in what is now a regular program designed to bring police officers and the community members they serve together – over coffee – to discuss issues and learn more about each other. No agenda, no speeches. Talk with police about your neighborhood, ask questions, share concerns, or stop by just to chat. It’s coffee, with a cop.
The event is open to the public. All are welcome.

The “Coffee With A Cop” initiative is recognized on a national level for building community trust.  In a short period of time, it allows citizens and police officers to get to know each other and discover mutual goals for the communities they live in and serve.  Chief Sansom and the East Hartford Police Department encourage everyone to stop by.
