EHPD Hires New Officers

East Hartford, CT – The Town of East Hartford and the East Hartford Police Department welcomed three new police officers yesterday at the East Hartford Public Safety Complex. 

“East Hartford has one of the finest Police Departments in the state and that’s because of the men and women who serve as our police officers,” said Mayor Mike Walsh. “We are fortunate to be able to recruit capable, competent and diverse officers and provide them with the highest quality training that aligns with internationally-recognized CALEA standards, which helps them become a tremendous asset to our community. We welcome Eric, Jose and Logan to our community and wish them the best as they begin their training.” 

“Our East Hartford citizens deserve nothing short of the best.” Chief Sansom said.  “The best police officers are those who continuously seek knowledge and self-improvement, embrace lifelong learning, and stay updated on the latest techniques, laws, and community dynamics.  Here in East Hartford we will provide them with everything they need for success.” 

Officers Eric Capo, Jose Colon, and Logan Discenza were administered the Oath of the Office by East Hartford Town Clerk Robert Pasek, overseen by Mayor Michael P. Walsh, East Hartford Police Chief Scott Sansom, and members of his command staff.  

Officer Eric Capo is 29 years old and currently a resident of East Hartford.  Eric has been described as a model employee by his supervisors at his last place of employment which was Allied Universal.  Eric currently holds a Bachelor’s Degree in History from Manhattanville College.  Once Eric completed his college studies, he immediately enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.  Eric was honorably discharged in June of 2021, after completing 5 years of service.  He was Anti-Tank Gunner and Security Specialist while in the military and received several medals of commendation.   

Logan A. Discenza is 22 years old and a currently working as a supervisor in the Food and Beverage industry.  Logan graduated from Central Connecticut State University, and currently holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminology.  Logan has been described by his peers as hard working, respectful, and compassionate.   

Officer Jose. G. Colon is currently 25 years old and has been a long-time resident of East Hartford.  Prior to today, Jose has been working for the University of Connecticut Police Department as a certified Police Officer.  Prior to working for UConn Police, he worked as Police Officer in the City of Hartford for roughly 1 year.  Jose has been described by his colleagues as dependable, knowledgeable, and overall a phenomenal person.  

We welcome all three new police officers here in East Hartford and wish them the best of luck during their training.  Jose will start his field training immediately while Eric and Logan will be entering the police academy in the very near future.
