In its effort to reduce opioid and prescription drug misuse the Town of East Hartford, in collaboration with the State of Connecticut's Department of Mental Health & Addiction Services along with the Department of Public Health, will begin a public campaign called:
"CHANGE the SCRIPT"
As part of this campaign, East Hartford Youth Services is sponsoring a Community Forum:
An Overview of the Opioid Crisis

East Hartford Community Cultural Center Auditorium
50 Chapman Place, East Hartford, CT 06108
Introduction given by: James F. O’Dea, Ph.D, MBA, Vice President of Operations, Hartford HealthCare Behavioral Health Network. He’s worked in behavioral healthcare in CT over the last 25 years.
A community discussion will follow. Panelist to include:
- Amy DiMauro, LCSW: Clinical Director at Rushford a leading provider of addiction & mental health treatment.
- Todd Lomento: Chief medical director from East Hartford Fire Department.
- Meghan Blanchette: A person in recovery.
- Kimberly Beauregard, LCSW: President & Chief Executive Officer at Intercommunity Inc. here in East Hartford.
- First Choice Health Centers representative.
Come be part of this important community conversation. Learn more about signs of opioid misuse, how long term prescription use or misuse can lead to ongoing substance problem, best practices for safe use, storage and disposal of unused medication, how and where to obtain help and what efforts are being made to address the opioid crisis. Resources will be available and a wealth of information will be shared by the individuals on the panel. Panelists will be taking questions from the audience.
