East Hartford WIC to Host a Series of Virtual Events For Breastfeeding Families

East Hartford, CT—the East Hartford WIC Program (Special Supplemental Program for Women, Infants and Children) in conjunction with the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action have been celebrating breastfeeding families for over 28 years. This tradition occurs annually during the month of August. Throughout the years, East Hartford WIC has recognized these families in various ways including luncheons, giveaways, makeovers and yoga classes. These efforts were all in kind donations by local businesses to our WIC families.

In 2020, East Hartford WIC will recognize these WIC families in a unique way. WIC will host a series of virtual celebrations throughout the month of August to include online breastfeeding classes and virtual support groups that will honor the WIC families’ breastfeeding journey during these unprecedented times. WIC’s Breastfeeding Coordinator, IBCLC Nutritionist and Peer Counselor will coordinator the event. Additionally, WIC will host a virtual Big Latch On, August 13, 2020 at 10:00 am where WIC families gather to breastfeed and offer peer support to each other.
