East Hartford Town Hall Lights Up in Crimson and Gold In Remembrance of George Floyd

(June 8, 2020) East Hartford, CT—The Town of East Hartford is joining municipalities nationwide today, June 8th to honor the memory of George Floyd, killed by police on May 25, 2020 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

East Hartford’s Town Hall cupola was lit up at noon today, June 8th, in crimson and gold in remembrance of Mr. Floyd and to honor his memory during family and public visitation hours.

Mr. Floyd was a graduate of Jack Yates High School, which colors are crimson and gold.

“Last Friday I participated in a conference call with Mayors nationwide where Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner asked us to honor Mr. Floyd’s memory by lighting up the Town Hall in crimson and gold,” said Mayor Marcia Leclerc. “These symbolic lights are shining bright in solidarity with Mr. Floyd’s family, our community and our nation.”
