The East Hartford Social Services Department is once again working in partnership with the Board of Education’s Office of Family and Community Partnerships to ensure East Hartford students have the necessary shoes and supplies for a successful start to the new school year. Building on the success of last year’s inaugural “Payless Back to School Shoe Program,” Social Services is once again seeking monetary donations to fund this program.

The East Hartford Social Services Department will also be holding combined sign-ups for their “Payless Back to School Shoes” and “Coats for Kids” Programs.  The “Payless Back to School Shoe Program” provides qualifying parents with a one-time use of Payless ShoeSource gift card to be used for purchase of a new pair of well-fitting shoes for their children, entering grades K-12 in the fall.  “The Coats for Kids Program,” however, is funded by the East Hartford Rotary Club and provides new winter coats to East Hartford youths between the ages of 5-12 years.

This year’s sign-ups will be held: every Tuesday, from June 26 through July 24; between 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. and 2:00-3:00 p.m. Sign-ups will be held on a walk-in basis (no appointments necessary), in the Social Services Department Town Hall, lower level, 740 Main Street.
