East Hartford Public Library Launches a Variety of Virtual Programs for All Ages

virtual programs at the east hartford library

East Hartford, CT—The East Hartford Public Library is excited to announce the launch of virtual summer programming for all ages.

Read books, win prizes!

Children, teens, and adults are all invited to join our online summer reading program. The program begins Friday, June 12th and continues until Friday, August 28th, 2020. Log your reading and complete fun activities to begin earning points and raffle entries! Please note that the East Hartford Public Library summer reading program is the same thing as the Governor’s Summer Reading Challenge. For all East Hartford Public Schools students, we will report book totals to the schools at the end of the summer.

This year, in addition to our online program, we're offering a BINGO board of fun activities, compatible with safe social distancing.

To register for summer reading, visit the library’s website: www.easthartfordct.gov/library and click on the “Summer Reading 2020” menu item on the left side, where you will also find a link to an instructional video that provides detailed information on registration and participation.

To borrow books and other items, give us a call at 860-290-4330 to set up an appointment for curbside service, or visit our website to view e-book and e-audiobook resources.

Virtual Programs

Each week, we will post our virtual interactive program lineup for the next week to the library website and to our Facebook page.

Programs begin the week of June 15, and will include Teen Tuesday, Stories and More! (for young children), A Virtual Reptile Encounter (for families), Summer Art Journals (a craft program for teens and adults), the “No Required Reading” Book Club (for adults), and a virtual version of our popular “Read to Dogs” program for children. For a complete list of virtual programs please see this link.

Subsequent weeks will include a wide variety of programs and performers. Programs will primarily run on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Registration is required for all virtual programs. Registered participants will receive an e-mail the day before each program with the link to the program. Library staff will be on hand to assist with technical questions.

Although our building is closed to the public, we are available via phone from Monday – Friday, 9 – 5, at 860-290-4330, and via e-mail at ehpl-reference@easthartfordct.gov.
