East Hartford Police Promote New Sergeant

The East Hartford Police Department is proud to announce the promotion of veteran member  Darrell Drouin to the rank of Sergeant.

Officer Darrell Drouin (right) began his career with the East Hartford Police Department 20 years ago in the Patrol Division.  In early 2008, he transferred to the Criminal Investigations Bureau and was assigned to the Statewide Narcotics Task Force where he served for a year before returning to Patrol.  In 2011 he transferred Patrol to the Hot Spot Unit (VINS), and two years later he was selected to join a task force with the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives where he served for 3 years before returning to Patrol.  Over the years he has also served as a class instructor for the Explorer Police Academy, as a trainer for the Connecticut Police Corps Training Academy, a Field Training Officer, and a part-time Marine Patrol Officer.  He is also currently an Auxiliary Neighborhood Resource and Community Outreach Officer.  He has received many letters of thanks and commendation from citizens, as well as from his supervisors and peers over the years.  He has also received a Life Saving Award, 3 Meritorious Service Citations and numerous Departmental Letters of Commendation.  “Sergeant Drouin has demonstrated excellence in leadership and professionalism throughout his career,” said East Hartford Police Chief Scott Sansom (left).  “He has certainly earned this responsibility, his promotion is well deserved.”

Sergeant Drouin was recognized for his promotion during the East Hartford Police Department’s awards ceremony on Thursday, May 10, 2018.  He began serving at his new rank on March 4, 2018 and is currently assigned as a patrol supervisor.
